Requirements

  • macOS 26 or later
  • Apple Silicon (M1 or later). It will not run on an Intel Mac.
  • The app itself is 6.5 MB. The speech model is a separate one-time download: about 480 MB for English, about 540 MB for Japanese.

Permissions it asks for

Two: the microphone, and Accessibility. Accessibility is what lets Kana see your dictation key and type into other apps. It is not used for anything else.
