Kana as a Voicy alternative

A cross-platform dictation app covering Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android and the browser, at usevoicy.com. It is also the only product page in the Japanese top seven for mac 音声入力.

What Voicy does better

Voicy goes everywhere Kana does not: Windows, Linux, iOS, Android and a Chrome extension, on one account, across 50+ languages. It offers a 20% disability discount on every plan with no proof asked for, which is a better answer on access than Kana currently has. It also localised into Japanese early enough to own the one product slot in the Japanese search results, which Kana does not.

Where Kana is different

  • Recognition happens on the Mac, with no account and no upload. Voicy promises not to store transcripts, which is a different promise from never sending them.
  • Japanese runs on a dedicated engine rather than one multilingual model covering fifty languages.
  • Dictation is $9.99 once rather than $8.49 every month.
